Pattern: For the birds headband

This is my favourite quick-knit project!

Using a pair of 9mm needles
CO 13 stitches, leave a long tail (you'll use this to sew up later)
Row 1: K1, P1
Repeat row 1 until the band can wrap all the way around your head (stretch it out - you want it to be tight so that the headband stays snug when you wear it) + 6 inches. Cast off, leaving another long tail.

The sewing up sounds trickier than it is. To begin, fold the band in half. Grab the tail thread of the band in your right hand, and feed it through the band that you're holding in your left hand. I usually pick a spot about 3" down from the end of the band in your left hand - directly in the middle. Pull through about 3" of the band that was formally on the right side (if you held the project sideways now, it would sort of look like a fish). Finally stitch both ends down (the ends should stretch out about 3" from where you crossed the ends). Flip the project inside out, and you're done!
